Synopsis


The typical Pisa soup is a recipe made strictly with our bread without salt and at least four or five days stale, well soaked in a previously cooked cabbage stew and drowned in cream of beans, dense and boiled for at least three or four hours. 

During cooking, everything must be turned and turned, from time to time, to avoid that it sticks on the bottom of the pot. The Queen of what is our traditional cuisine requires different flavors ingredients and a lot of patience.

In the same way, “The Vegetable Mill Theory” is made up of different pieces, old and new short stories, mixed together and carefully collected over time, that - as real ingredients - make a "soup", a metaphor of daily life and consumption that we are almost forced to grind, like robots, in a vegetable mill.

A "grinder", as in the title of the Carnival of Viareggio allegorical float on the cover, which represent the spirit of this collection of short stories. They were "cooked" to slow fire, mixing their substance with the wooden spoon, shaped by hand and made with rasp and chisel with an olive branch: a piece of "my log", in Tre Colli di Calci, who often welcomed, greeted and taught me to live and grow.

These stories, short fairy tales, can be read to children. The last one is the author autobiography and perhaps it is a fairy tale, too.
